Rise and Shine
By Rachael Wade
Rise and Shine
Little one with a head of curls.
Trying to straighten but realizes
the curve & the wave didn’t need to be stretched.
Rise and Shine
Brown one who once chose the shade.
Let the sun kiss you, warm you, and welcome you to a few shades darker if it pleases.
Reminding you the shade of you is beautiful and worthy of exposure & celebration.
Rise and Shine
Quiet one who isn’t quiet.
Speak up, Speak out, you’ve got words
the world needs to hear.
Rise and Shine
Curious one who has become uncomfortable. Your questions, new learning, and proximity to different people have awakened & unlocked new wells of love that you didn’t know existed. Draw water from these wells.
Rise and Shine
Wrinkled one whose hands and eyes bear witness to a life well lived. A world craving wisdom & honesty beckons your presence & experience. Wear your crown of dignity with honor. You’re not done yet.
Rise and Shine
Beloved one who has laid dormant, hiding under the covers, and sleeping. Trying to hide or change parts of you. We need to SEE & EXPERIENCE all of you. Hide no more.
See YOU first, then bit by bit begin to reveal yourself to the world.
Become visible. Let the Light shine on you.
Awaken from your slumber.
It’s time to Rise and Shine.
“But when anything is exposed by the light, it becomes visible, for anything that becomes visible is light. Therefore it says, “Awake, O sleeper, and arise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you.”Ephesians 5:13-14 ESV
