Put yourself in the path of beauty
tend your dahlias and zinnias
bite into a velvety peach
and let the juice run down your chin

Savor the breathy sweetness of your toddler
bake bread
even if it turns out lumpy
and you have to throw it out
to the tiny birds

Sing loudly and off key
at the very least
it will make someone laugh at your silliness

Work with your hands and delight in their quiet strength
admire the mystical ways
trees tell their secrets
listen if you can
answer back if you must

joyful childlike wonder
