Sustenance in Clouds
by bethany howard
I will tie balloons to my house
and float.
Birds, coffee, and books
will be my company
as the cleansing breeze
blows through the windows.
I will sit on the porch and
watch the sun rise and the
sun set each day.
Clouds will be my sustenance;
the rain will quench my thirst;
rainbows will be my delight.
I will land
in a forest,
in the shadow of a mountain,
and at the edge of the sea.
I will taste and see
what is there for me.
Lush green, waves, waterfalls, wildflowers,
mushrooms, lightening bugs, grace,
dolphins, dappled light, deer, caves,
quiet, apples, rocks, trees, rabbits.
My pen will record my explorations;
I will map the places my feet and my heart take me.
When my heart is full and settled,
when my words have done all
they can to capture the treasures,
when my heart longs
to go back,
I will tie balloons to my house
and float
home.
