The Embrace

There is no light that can be seen
Between us.
The light dwells within and
Around us.

Praises usher out
Smiles reach deep
Lips utter truth
Souls are released.

Who are you to love me so?
How can I reside so close?
Your embrace
My escape
Our holy state.

Silence befalls
And we forget what’s been lost
We watch in quiet
As time slows to a crawl.

Could we just stay here
Beleaguered yet brave
Could we stay motionless
Could we remain?

You are to me
As I am to you
Fleeting yet steady
Uncertain yet true.

There is no light that cannot be seen
Within us.
Around us.
And in between.
